Ilse BulhofPhilosopher Ilse Bulhof was Extraordinary Professorat the University of Leiden and taught at the Catholic Theological University in Utrecht. She published books about, among others, Nietzsche, Darwin and Freud. In the early eighties she became a Catholic. She was inspired by Franciscus of Assisi, but found that the ecclesiastical practice lacked spirituality.

She discovered Zen Buddhism and from the moment she sat down knew this was ‘it’. She felt liberated. Through the experience of sitting she discovered that she ‘could think with her whole body instead of just with her head’.
To experience emptiness, free of human conditioning and to be able to love are her major longings. Philosophy to her is not the path of ‘logical thinking’ but by means of ‘experiental thinking’. She doesn’t mind if, because of this, some people don’t consider her a philosopher. Through practicing Zen she left traditional thinking behind and in a certain sense started ‘to live’. And that’s more important to her than the rules of logic.

welke filosoof? - Quote
Mevrouw Bulhof noemt een filosoof wiens naam klinkt als Pierre Ado. Weet iemand de exacte naam?
