Father Jef Boeckmans knew, even when he was very young, that his path in life would be a spiritual one. As a young boy he decided to enter the Order of Trappist Monks. At that time he was very interested in Mysticism and he made a study of the Spanish and Flemish mystical traditions.

His search for spirituality deepened when he came across Zazen meditation. He spent some time in a Japanese zen monastery, where he completed a seshin, or period of meditation. After that he completed a full meditation training. He has been teaching as a zen master for many years now.

Father Boeckmans is convinced that zen meditation can enrich and enhance the Christian experience. He has set up a Zendo in the Trappist monastery , and the seshins he runs there attract a lot of interest from monks, nuns and lay people alike.
