PHILIP GLASS' PRACTICE

Broadcast date: Saterday 5-4-2003 ned. 1
Watch in Realplayer (broadband - not available outside of the Netherlands)
Watch in Realplayer (slow connection)

Composer Philip Glass came into contact with Buddhism back in the sixties, which changed his mental attitude in daily life and thus towards his music. During a conference in New York in June 2001, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Buddhist magazine Tricycle, of which Glass is chairman of the Board of directors, we see him at work during a musical evening he put together. As a member of a discussion panel, Philip Glass elucidates the how and why of Buddhism. He emphasizes the similarity between the practice of music and the practice of meditation, both of which aim at experiencing another realm.
