It was first opened up to foreigners just a few years before the shooting of this film took place. Though the Ladakhi’s are politically Indian, they are still rooted in the consciousness of a thousand year old culture. By means of their belief in Tibetan Buddhism, they feel they posses the psychic powers of the world of gods and demons.
The inhabitants of this ancient land are unique in their approach of a Geshe (a "metaphysical professor") to whom a miracle is an everyday occurrence.
The film fulfils our yearning that, apart from our materialistic and egocentric points of view, there is another awareness of a peaceful life in harmony with nature. Instead of finding such consciousness in books of philosophers or Gurus, you find it here in the daily life of a village as something totally normal and refreshing.
