The Power of Compassion in Turbulent Times

The Dalai Lama will visit the Netherlands on June 4 and 5, 2009. He will give a buddhist teachings and a public lecture on June 4th in the RAI Conference centre in Amsterdam. The BOS will broadcast a summary and an impression of this lecture.

The Dalai Lama will comment on the practice of patience and tolerance that can overcome these obstacles of aggression and hate. He will base his talk on A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, the classic text by Shantideva on the deeds of bodhisattvas: those who cherish the aspiration of achieving full Enlightenment for the sake of all beings.

The techniques and methods that will be discussed are not only meant for Buddhists but for everyone who would like to become a better human being. With the aid of this teaching, and as a living example of the practice, the Dalai Lama will show us how much we can achieve by exercising patience and tolerance in our struggle against aggression and our striving towards peace.
